D E V I S E F A C T O R Y
DEVISE FACTORY is a casual brand that has been creating carefully crafted clothing for 23 years, founded by Nakajima, who was in sales for a children's clothing brand, and Hayashi, who comes from a vintage clothing buyer background.
Starting as a children's clothing brand with the theme of "durable clothes that can be enjoyed over time" that we want to dress my child in.
We aim to deliver clothes that can be enjoyed regardless of age or gender, in line with children's growth, and have specialized in adult-sized T-shirts and sweatshirts since 2017.

Clothes that weave memories

DEVISE FACTORY was founded as a children's clothing brand.
At the core of this is the concept of "durable clothes that can be enjoyed with aging."
We want to deliver warm clothes that can weave family memories while being passed down among siblings. That is how we started.
The photo above is a T-shirt that the three brothers actually wore for 13 years.
In the era before mass production became mainstream, making things took time. However, because of that, high-quality clothes that can be used for a long time were born without skimping on effort.
At DEVISE FACTORY, we use a rare old-style hanging knitting machine made about 100 years ago, which can only knit 1m in an hour using an inefficient method, to carefully create fabric that can withstand years of wear.
While modern machines can knit about 25m in an hour, we deliberately take time to create fabric that is rich in flavor and beautiful in aging.
Clothes that are passed down from adults to children, and from siblings.
Aging does not make it look shabby; rather, it increases in flavor and grows stylishly.
We will continue to create a piece that fits the body the more you wear it, allowing it to grow in your own style.

A special comfort unique to a children's clothing brand.

The fabric of DEVISE FACTORY is made with a completely original recipe that mixes our commitment, the factory's technology, and the honest opinions of children.
The "durable clothes" that we envisioned at the beginning of the business were completed, and we actually had our own child wear them.
Amidst this, one day, Nakajima's daughter said a word.
"Daddy, this clothes is stiff and painful!"
Nakajima realized that he had only pursued durability and had not considered his children's feelings.
"I was struck by the thought that we need to use materials that children will love."
And we re-evaluated everything from scratch.
After many prototypes with the factory, we finally arrived at a comfort that balances 'durability' and 'softness.'
The DF original recipe born this way remains unchanged even now that adult clothing has become the main focus.
"To create 'clothes that are durable and can be enjoyed over time,'
"Adding a 'soft feel that children will love' is what we did,
These are the T-shirts and sweatshirts from DEVISE FACTORY.
Clothing that fuses vintage and modern
The clothes of DEVISE FACTORY are made with a completely original recipe that fuses vintage from the 1950s and 60s with modern techniques.
Based on my experience as a former vintage clothing buyer, we specify the cotton thread count and combinations in detail to reproduce the unique surface texture, wear, fading, and thread irregularities of vintage items, carefully knitting them on old-fashioned knitting machines.
However, what we aim for is not a complete reproduction of the past. We actively incorporate parts that we believe are better with modern techniques.
For example...
• The zipper is a double-opening type, designed for durability and convenience.
• The T-shirt fabric is thicker than vintage ones from that time, emphasizing a solid hand feel.
• Improved elasticity for a softer feel and better recovery after washing.
• Sweatshirts and hoodies are made to be fluffy and soft, without retaining the vintage stiffness.
• By keeping the back finish in loops without brushing, we maintain softness.
Rather than completely reproducing items from the past, we focus on preserving the good details and textures of old while creating products that do not lean too heavily on that era.
DF original colors blended by artisans.
The colors of DEVISE FACTORY are carefully blended by Japanese artisans, one by one.
We are designing the very 'color' that allows you to feel the vintage texture, not just a simple dye.
The inspiration for colors comes from items found in vintage shops and antique stores that are exquisitely faded.
Extracting the "faded" and "depth" that can only be born from the passage of time from old overseas clothing and accessories.
While using the overdyeing technique, we search for colors that feel wonderful from Europe without leaning too much towards Japanese aesthetics, incorporating good colors from clothing, accessories, and anything we find.
"This color, somehow it draws me in."
We deliver a unique color that you can feel in that way.

Prints also grow with wear.

The prints of DEVISE FACTORY are not just meant to remain vivid.
Craftsmen adjust the solvent, intentionally reduce adhesion, and experiment with water volume, absorption, and printing pressure to achieve prints that blend with the passage of time.
Generally, it is said that "prints do not fade or wear off," but at DEVISE FACTORY, we believe that the beauty of imperfection and unevenness creates a unique expression.
Over time, the print gradually changes and grows along with the clothing.
That texture increases warmth as if it has engraved the wearer's journey.
Left: Unworn items | Right: Worn for 11 years
After wearing for 11 years, it has developed a unique texture that is one of a kind.
